Welcome to the Kottemann Family Today

Welcome. I'm sure it will be a while before we can all get listed around and share ideas but I wanted to great you as you arrived and let you know that someone does actually monitor this site. I was born Tina Denise Kottemann in Heidelberg Germany not too far from where our forefathers were born. I went to the University of Hawaii and Kent State University. I've been a therapist for emotionally disturbed children, a vice principal of an elementary/jr high school, an administrative assistant, and am now a web systems analyst for a US Government agency. I have two children (one of each) that are my joy. I keep busy with my Emmaus group, Church (we're technically methodists), and Scouts (both Boy and Girl). My father's family (Richard Kottemann) is from St. Louis, where he grew up playing stick ball on the street corner and then joined the US Army after high school, and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia. I am currently researching the Kottemann family name because it is A) a one family name (and I'm looking to join the UK's One Family Name Researcher Organization with it) and B) there are very few of us in the world today as compared to other surnames. If you have any information about the Kottemann name please email me at either teanah@hotmail.com or at kottemann@hotmail.com. This page used to be a forum that only I ever went to, seems not many Kottemann's have web access YET! But I took down the forum and decided to put what I could find here. It's great to know a bit of what we're all doing out there in the world. If you want something added here or even deleted (I know a lot of people don't like things on the web about them and I did make some of the information rather vague so as not to make people too easy to find) just let me know. Although most everything here was already found on the web. I also found SSN Index files that I'll post later and addresses of 75 families in the US and 40 families in Germany and yes, I'm busy writing them all for MORE INFORMATION! I guess you could say this is becoming an obsession. And welcome to our pages... please bookmark and settle in as we travel the adventure of our roots together. =)

Homestead Care Taker Kottemann's

Or who's there now on the old homestead. In the center is FRITZ (Friedrich, 55) and his wife USHI (Ursula, 49). (73K) The old guy on the left....you have a guess, is of course Gerhard visiting from Japan. As reported before they do not operate the farm anymore, but have an egg processing and wholesale business. The land is rented out. Thank you Gerhard for the pictures of Germany. Fritz and Ushi if you want your picture taken down let me know.

Today was the Kottemann Family Reunion in New Orleans, Louisiana. I got word of it to late to attend myself am hoping that Stan Kottemann will send all the latest about that end of our family and/or a picture or two.

Gerhard Kottemann

Posted: 5/16/99 7:46 PM

I've been exchanging information with this side of the family now for a couple months and will be incorporating all the information into the web pages for all to see. He is in Japan running a small automotive parts business selling, buying, importing and exporting German and Japanese car parts; also selling to the US, where he comes about once a year. He has provided some incredible information and I will ever be in his debt for his gift of knowledge about his side of the family. If we all did this we'd have an incredible publication. This link is to a picture of Gerhard and his son Hans in I assume it's Gerhard's office in Japan. (64K)

Henrich Kottemann

Posted: 5/16/99 7:46 PM

Ireland, last contact about 15 years ago. He is born in 1938 and was a ships captain. If you're out there please contact us.

Posted: 7/22/99 12:15 AM

Yes we did get contacted by this branch of the family. Henrich is gone now but his children, Robert and Teresa are living in Dublin, Ireland and are very excited about finding out about the Kottemann family. Their emails are added to the list and their history written in to the Kotteman lineage page and they would welcome contact from Kottemann's around the world.

Jim's son Greg was featured in the October Gazette. He's a County police officer in the Neighborhood Bike Patrol Unit. He is currently single but entwined with a lady named Danielle. He was born and raised in Virginia. Graduated with the first graduating class of West Potomac High School. He loves playing golf and photography. He has a Rototiller named Heidi. I just heard he is working in the same High School that my mother works in and they play a game of greeting each other with "Hi Mr. Kottemann, Hi Mrs. Kottemann."

Do a search on Kottemann and you'll find all kinds of stuff like this: Kottemann, J.E., "Applying the Jackson System Development and the Geoffrion Structured Modeling to Systems Description," Final Report, College of Business Administration, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, 9/86.

This work was done under Army contract in the context of combat simulation (cf. Dolk's 11/86 report and Stott's paper, both listed in this Bibliography). It presents an overview of JSD and SM, points out some of the shortcomings of each, and outlines a way to marry the two approaches. Of particular interest is the argument that SM properly subsumes the entity-attribute-set formalism of SIMSCRIPT (although the treatment is not rigorous).

The one shortcoming pointed out for SM was that it appears to be designed for "static" rather than dynamic models, and hence does not appear to directly support dynamic simulation. (Various authors have since examined SM for simulation carefully and fruitfully.)

126. Kottemann, J.E. and D.R. Dolk, "Model Integration and Modeling Languages: A Process Perspective," Information Systems Research, 3:1 (March 1992), pp. 1-16. An earlier version appeared as "Process-Oriented Model Integration," Proceedings of the Twenty-First Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, Vol. III, IEEE Computer Society Press, Los Alamitos, CA, pp. 396-402, 1/88.

My work has assumed that languages for model manipulation will be natural extensions of model definition languages like SML, presumably with some simple procedural capability added so that solvers can be put through their paces more than one step at a time. This article indicates one possible approach to the design of such extensions. It also indicates that such extensions can accomplish some of the purposes of model integration via model interconnection.

The authors focus on the situation where multiple models (possibly from different modeling paradigms, and possibly written in SML) are used computationally in a coordinated way without having to integrate the individual model representations. They sketch a model manipulation language for such situations based on the idea of communicating sequential processes from computer science. The approach has a strongly procedural, rather than declarative, character.

This is Jeffrey Kottemann writer, brain, engineer extrordinaire! He attended school in Arizona. Seems he's everywhere!
